I painted this watercolor in a panic, when I needed to have a cover image first thing in the morning for the printing our old 32 page catalog. Early in the evening I found a similar illustration for an article in Reader's Digest. It wasn't a boat painting, yet the article was about a father teaching his young daughter to fly fish. So I re-created a favorite spot on the McKenzie in my mind's eye and used the vibrant color the illustrator used in the article. I eventually donated the original to an angler's fundraiser's auction.

I've had a watercolor website for years at WWW.gregtatman.com. I have started painting again, if for no other reason than to see if I still could. I have been pleased with my newest work, and surprised how different they are from my two, three and four decades  old work. I have uploaded the newest, minus two I have yet to upload. 

My plan is to do more boat paintings. I'll need to get out there on the river with my camera more often! In the mean time, here are a couple recents works:
